Is there a way to get the GUI to show up in the taskbar on every boot? I have used the autostart command, but that does not put the icon in the taskbar.

I installed the aiov2\_ctl GUI; however, when I start the app, it returns the error: “Python is not installed.” When I install Python, the system tells me Python is already installed and that it’s the latest version. aiov2\_ctl works fine from the command line. Does anyone have any ideas as to what’s going on?

You need to use a Trixie image. It will not work on bookworm. I tried and failed over and over. Maybe we can convince the dev to make a fork for bookworm but the on trixie it works as advertised.

This is happening to me currently on Trixie. It’s looking for it in the wrong spot so I made a shortcut for it

> nano ~/.local/share/applications/aiov2.desktop
>
> [Desktop Entry]
>
> Name=AIOv2 Controller
>
> Exec=env QT\_QPA\_PLATFORM=xcb /usr/bin/python3 /usr/local/bin/aiov2\_ctl --gui
>
> Type=Application
>
> Categories=Utility;
>
> Terminal=
>
> false

Lmk if that works around works for you too. I don’t want to admit how long I spent figuring this out.

Is this the same problem I was having:

> Hello all I spent many hours trying to get my uConsole, CM4 and AIO v2 working and struggled to find all of the information in one place. After much searching I got to a working system with SDR++ set up correctly. I take no credit for any of the information below and you may have a different experience but this worked for me: Install the Rex image using the Raspberry Pi Imager (I used Debian 13 Trixie) Boot and wait for the initial setup. Note on first boot I get some messages about servic…

particularly:

I got an error about PyQt6 not being installed so had to change:

Path to PyGPSClient executable

export PATH=“/home/”$(logname)“/.pygpsclient/bin:$PATH”
to:
export PATH=“${PATH}:/home/$(logname)/.pygpsclient/bin”

using: sudo nano ~/.profile

I think things get broken as kernels and stuff get updated. Hopefully the developers will update their work and things go back to normal.

I think this may fix it

This seems to fix the error i was getting with python q6 not installed run the below command.

# Fix ownership so your regular user owns the venv

sudo chown -R $USER:$USER ~/.pygpsclient

# Install PyQt6 inside the venv (not the system Python)

~/.pygpsclient/bin/pip3 install --ignore-installed PyQt6 --break-system-packages

# Verify

aiov2\_ctl --status

But now the issue i have now is AIOv2 GUI already running but i cant see it any sugestions anyone?
