did you use raspi-config to do it? did it install anything before it switched? labwc is the only de installed by default. i don’t recommend x11 because of the native portrait panel layout causes screen tearing.

Yeah, I used `raspi-config` to switch it, but when I went to exit the config, it immediately rebooted, and that’s when I got the issue. I was attempting to use X11 because RetroPie wasn’t getting on with Wayland. I think I’ll stick with Wayland and just use RetroArch. I know you have the OS for RetroPie but wanted to use it on main bookworm OS.

try this: [-SOLVED- How do I boot directly into text mode instead of GUI? (Assume broken unusable GUI)](https://forum.clockworkpi.com/t/solved-how-do-i-boot-directly-into-text-mode-instead-of-gui-assume-broken-unusable-gui/15614)

run `raspi-config` from there and choose `x11` back

it also would be nice if you will show photo next time

I noticed recently that Raspberry Pi are publishing a `trixie` suite now, which makes upgrading this image to debian trixie a little easier. I’ve been running trixie on my devterm for some time now, and it’s been going great with some very small tweaks.

If you want to try this, obviously backup first, if it breaks you may end up with a system that does not boot.

Basically, edit `/etc/apt/sources.list` and `/etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.list` and changes all occurrences of `bookworm` to `trixie`. Then, because the raspi libwlroots package clashes with the native debian one, create a file named `/etc/apt/preferences.d/10-libwlroots-0.18-pin.pref` containing the following

```auto
Package: libwlroots-0.18
Pin: origin "archive.raspberrypi.com"
Pin-Priority: -10
```

This will ensure apt uses libwlroots-0.18 from the debian repository instead of the raspi one.

Then just `apt update` and `apt full-upgrade`.

i havent tried but kingston canvas go is famously the best at random read speeds, it’s recommended to use with various samplers and synths (M8, Deluge etc) which require very good random read speeds, so could be nice for operating systems as well

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to upgrade to Trixie per this instruction. I stuck on the libraries conflicts, including lxde stack, lxpanel and etc. Please, share if you know how to mitigate this.

Hi

I am a new user and so sorry if this has been answered.

I just ordered my UConsole with WiFi and 4G, CM5 with 16GB RAM 64GB eMMC and a few PAiSUE 5500mAH batteries with charger.

1. Do I need to buy anything else?
2. Where can I get the latest version of bookworm for the CM5 to work properly? Are there any special steps to do in the install?
3. I see some of you have done a WiFi antenna upgrade. What’s the best solution for this?
4. I’m quite good with modding; is there anything I could do to make the UConsole better for everyday life?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

You’ll need an IO board to flash the image.to the EMMC.

All my images can be found in the links in the first post.

The antenna mod is an external antenna.

In the Mega folder, the image for bookworm is 6.12.40.

I believe the most recent image is 6.6.78.

Am I doing something wrong?

The most recent kernel is 6.12.40 for the uconsole. We are a few releases ahead of RPi offical but RPi is on 6.12.y now. You just posted in a old thread that is obsolete, current info is the appropriate thread.

Hey Rex,

I’m currently running Trixie with the kernel from ClockworkPi’s apt repo (version 6.12.32).
The kernel Trixie had installed previously was 6.12.47.

So it looks like there’s really no reason to stick with Bookworm—Trixie should work out of the box, whether using ClockworkPi’s kernel or yours. 😊

In Raspberry Pi Imager’s advanced settings, you set a hostname, created a user and password, and enabled SSH. You’ve booted the uConsole and have a way to run the following commands on it (either by logging in via…
