i had a similar problem with a new uconole after setting up i realize the adapter board would not click in when i push it down, had to tweak the metal tab a bit to get it to lock in place

yeah that was one of my issues indeed indeed. It was back alll the way, just could not get it fully clicked down initially. Had to fiddle a bit with the clips.
Still think it would have worked, my issue turned out to be something different, but glad it was noticed before i took it on the (potentially bumpy) road 😉 Because would have become an issue later prob.

What if you already have the CM5 with EMMC storage. Can you still use the new adapter board for NVME instead of the EMMC or are you stuck just booting off the EMMC?

Yes, you can use the NVME to boot when you have EMMC.

Hi,
I noticed that the board has a **“USB-C port for flashing: can be used to flash the eMMC version computer module.”**

Does this mean I don’t need a developer board to flash the eMMC module?
Also, is there any documentation on how to use this port for flashing?

Thanks!

Nope that port is power only.

It was confirmed that you can use the USB-C flashing port to upload firmware without a developer board.

That is a addon board and not part of the stock uConsole. This thread has nothing to do with that adapter. So when you ask about the USB C port I assume you mean the stock USB C port on the device. You made no mention of the addon adapter board.

did you manage to upgrade the eeprom? and edit the config file? thats really important. i’m using a 256GB high endurance card if it makes any difference. but prior to make those changes, the system boots rather unreliably.

BOOT\_ORDER=0xf461 means boot off SD card first (1) then NVMe (6) then USB (4) and, finally repeat the process (f)
The boot order is read from right to left, according to the RPi manual
BOOT\_ORDER Description

`0xf41` Try SD first, followed by USB-MSD then repeat (default if `BOOT_ORDER` is empty)
`0xf14` Try USB first, followed by SD then repeat
`0xf21` Try SD first, followed by NETWORK then repeat
`0xf46` Try NVMe first, followed by USB-MSD then repeat

Thanks, but I think I’m still missing something. I imaged the uConsole version of Trixie to a MicroSD and then edited the config.txt on the SD to have the vales shown above. I install it in my uConsole with my CM5Lite card using the HackerGadgets three board upgrade including a NVME 1TB SSD and it boots and let’s me go through all the configuration steps, then after a while, the screen goes black and it never comes back.

config.txt? it should be editing the eeprom.
eeprom values are obtained by using “rpi-eeprom-config”
to edit it, you use “rpi-eeprom-config -e”
