I have some parts laying around. A Waveshare Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 IO Board w/ case, and a CM5016064 CM5 16GB/64GB EMMC. I’d like to add the RTL-SDR/LoRa/GPS/RTC hat for Raspberry Pi and AC1200 USB-C WiFi Card. Here are some Mock up photos.
Essentially a headless Uconsole like device. I could run Rex’sTrixie image most likely with some tweeks and add the 4 - SMA antenna ports out the back. And it looks like it will all fit in the case.
Add a touch screen monitor , small wireless keyboard and mount it in my truck…
Wonder if it the SDR Pi Hat would be supported in KALI?
No need for rex’s trixie if you’re not using the uconsole screen and motherboard
this will work with just a regular pi image.
I’m also nut sure the usb c port on the sdr hat works like you’re trying to use it now, I don’t see any mention of a usb hub on the product page, so I think that’s just a easier to use usb port for the SDR instead of the connector on the bottom of the hat.
It definitely would only be usb2.0, so not the best way to use the AC1200 anyway. A 1200mbit wifi module on a 480mbit usb is a bit of a waste
I’m doing exactly this, but to build a small fixed radio station. The only thing missing now is HG’s new board.
I’m going to use the HackRF (external with usb cable) and HG’s RTL-SDR together ( RTL-SDR/LoRa/GPS/RTC hat for Raspberry Pi – Hacker Gadgets ). It will be a small radio and satellite station, designed to run Intercept continuously and Dragon OS. I’ve already bought this amazing new module from HG. I’m going to drill the mounting holes for the antennas, and I’m 100% sure it’s going to be amazing.
It isn’t really a uConsole-related project, but I’m here waiting for the new board to arrive. Unfortunately, it’s going to take a while—so I’m trying to contain my excitement!
What you you talking about, there is no uConsole involved. It’s the same thing your trying to do. The only thing questionable is whether the AC-1200 board will work in the usb port on the hat. I have emailed Hacker Gadets to ask just that question.
think it will work. USB 3.0 is backward-compatible with USB 2.0 and vice versa. What will change is the throughput and some commands, but it will most likely work.
That’s a bit tricky. If there are pins on the board where I can connect a USB port, that may be the only solution. My board is already on its way; once it arrives, I’ll see what I can do with it…Now, I think it would be simpler to check which ports are available on the IO board I’ll be using, rather than on the HackerGadgets board. In my case, it’s Raspberry Pi’s own CM5 IO Board. I’ll wait until everything arrives and take a look. I only need the HackerGadgets board to build the station.
