My trackball entirely unusable and just flicks around wherever. I have a cm4 lite does the uconsole antenna not work. And if I put a phone sim into the 4g will I get an added price.
First make sure you don’t have the trackball rotated 90 degrees, it has 2 little nubs that need to be in the holes on the keyboard. But quality of the trackballs varies a lot, you can get a few replacements on aliexpress and likely end up with a better one.
You can also try the qmk keyboard firmware
The antennas work okay, but they need some distance to the metal case to work properly. Double sided foam tape is an easy way to get them away from the case. Also make sure the wifi antenna is plugged directly into the cm4 not the mainboard wifi, that one only works with cm3 style cores and not the cm4 adapter.
What exactly do you mean with the 4g question?
- antenna should be connected to the cm4, not to the mainboard
- put 1-3mm of something between antenna and metal case
By 4g I mean the 4g sim expansion module provided by clockwork as an added extra.
I dont have an antenna port on the cm4 though could I use the gpio as a wireless unit?
if your cm4 doesn’t have wifi you need to use a usb wifi module
ok thanks (20 character limit)
I understand you’re talking about clockworks 4g module, but I don’t know what you mean by the actual question about getting an added price
Some companies charge extra if you connect your sim to a non-phone device.
Where shall they know from it’s a non-phone device?
I assume they either detect the os or have a list of phone devices.
Usually it’s an extra charge for tethering, not putting the card in a different device
And you can detect tethering because the packets arriving at the ISP routers have made an extra hop
I doubt that this is technically feasible or possible. But if that is the case, there’s a very simple solution for you: switch to a different provider.
Oh fair enough ill see and report back if I do get any charges.
My first impression was the same as yours. After about 2 weeks of using it I can live with it, it’s not perfect but acceptable. If it’s the trackball that got better or if it’s me I don’t know.
Hahahaha… i can hear my self few years ago when i bought my first Uconsole ![]()
Uconsole is amazing great computer, just need few upgrades to turn on something amazing: most important antenna spacer do mot glue directly on the metal frame, then new software by Rex, then new keyboard with trackpad, then upgrades from hacker gadgets and cm5, some nice covers and that’s it! ![]()
Ok nice im currently designing my own 3d printed modifications (I know some already exits but not for my use case) Ill 3d print an antenna spacer although are you sure about the cm5 I thought it could overheat and they are quite expensive now.
at current prices I would hold off unless you’re really running into the cm4’s limits
