# If I want my uConsole be in color scheme of raspberry pi's official case, which material would be best?

I want my uconsole look like… a child’s toy. Like raspberry pi500? ish?
I think I could 3d print the front and rear panel, but using plastic rear panel would be bad for thermal.
Or… Maybe get the rear panel model for active cooler at this time?

Why not paint? Automotive paint in a spray can and many coats. Or appliance enamel paint can be applied with a brush, but very limited colors. Model/hobby paint should work if you apply a primer.
I’ve never tried to paint the aluminum uConsole case, but I think I would like to try.

PLA`s good up to about 60c (I don`t even drink my coffee that hot!), but it also has properties that allow annealing to take place, so if you can take it to about 75c for a few hours and keep it`s shape the same, then it`ll be good up to 75c again without it deforming.

All of the aluminum chassis components are fully painted to prevent aluminum oxidation; the black pieces are black paint and the silver pieces are silver paint. Below you can see both worn:

That was a year ago, it looks much worse now. I put a coat of paint on the midsection but what the Ace Hardware folks recommended wore off within a couple weeks so I’ll probably Plasti-Dip it next and see how that lasts.

Plasti-Dip will be even worse for durability; cerakoting it will likely provide superior results.
