Introducing the DevTerm Field Ops Shell

It was snowing like crazy today so I designed this while cooped up in my home office, its a 2 piece shell add on that fixes my number one complaint about the devterm, IT NEEDS SCREWS! also some loops to put a strap on it and a picatinny system to mount junk to the thing. finally! a place for my SDR to permanently be attached to my devterm! , oh and it fits on an ender 3 so yall can actually print it. uses M3 hardware with press in nuts to clamp the whole thing together, currently printing one now and will follow up with how it fits in the next day or so, anyways head over to my github to get this! happy printing! This looks neat. I look forward to seeing the final photos/videos of this on a real Dev-Term!

Via Shape-ways, yes http://shpws.me/Tpj9

looks like it blocks the ports… I could be mistaken - is it possible to take the original shale files and fill out from them making a thinker and more durable case? Is that what you did?

heres another angle, all ports are accessible

cool. Can you elaborate on picatinny part? What mounts do you use for accessories? How does sdr looks like with picatinny mount?

Thank you for this gorgeous shell!
Picrail mounts stuff well, tolerances are tight and the DevTerm is ready to be slung on the shoulder.
The M3 nuts had to be pursued into the plastic with a soldering iron, but that’s part of the design I believe.

Works as promised, my only complaint is that the power button is not easily reached.
Maybe a TPU plug to push the power button would be nice to have.

PS: A step file would be appreciated in the repo for remixing.

We’ll see about that, I’m not saying no but depending on how it’s adopted will determine what I do next

Got mine done today:) pretty bold move to release the files before actually doing a fit test lol

still gotta design some stuff, but i figured if picatinny is good enough for a battle rifle, its good enough for a devterm, stuff should be rugged, modular, and survive being yeeted at least once, hence picatinny was obvious

Dont have a printer but I know someone who does - thanks - I’ve asked him to print the SDR adapter too - also I purchased a couple of Piccany rail items - 1/4-20 adapter and a site adapter that can be used to mount sensors - I have a severe weather detector that is ESP23 based (barometric and lightning)… it’s in it’s own case …

Sdr mount came out awesome!

if you don’t have a printer - befriend someone who does… he compliments the files - thanks!!!
M3 bolts with hex heads - about how long… headed to our local hardware store - where they have metric and SAE bolts… again thank you for your contribution to this group! I have 90 degree USB extenders that will make a tiddy connection to the SDR unit…
