Introducing the Omega Chassis for the uConsole šŸš€

But I don’t have CNC machine or 3D Printer…

You don’t need 3D Printer. it has information where & how to order parts, and ship to your home.

Is the Omega chassis compatible with CPI v3.14 revision 5?

Yup, it will also be compatible with future models - if not I will provide upgrade solutions - so it’s not just one off guide, it’s including future support + updates.

all uconsoles shipped with the v5 mainboard

Do I have to spend $25 just to get the ordering info? I do not want print files as I would just want to order the cnc parts.

you need the files to order them, the ordering info is just instructions for how to order cnc parts at jlccnc or some other service afaik

There’s ~30 model files, and additional ~60 pages guide for installations. CNC alone would be useless, you will not be able to put things together without the guide. This is a fun build, but it is not a slap on backplates, you need to assemble parts with the guide. Plus, this also includes future upgrade parts.

  • Include variation for two build options: Essential and Ultimate options
  • Essential variation build: All casing part can be printed at home as a pathway, all modules work with both variations if you are on a budget. It is upgradable to Ultimate overtime.
  • A comprehensive guide (~15 pages) for ordering production of chassis through 3rd party fabrication services; Offering alternative optimised CNC services (cheaper and higher quality than other services); Details of parts and accessories required.
  • A detailed instructions (~60 pages, ~100 guide images) for parts and assembling the Omega-Chassis Ultimate version.
  • An additional instruction and design files for the Essential variation build (~11 pages, ~18 images).
  • ~30 modular design files
  • Community support channels to get help, include guidance and support on design modifications.
  • Includes future upgrades - there is another upgrade coming. I am validating the design and manufacturing issues, test them fully before releases.

I did not realize this was files to order the parts from a CNC place. I thought you were going o be making the parts and selling them. Now I understand the $25 charge.

Thank you for checking in and confirming our understanding. It is crucial to make sure the result can be reproduced without needing any external help. This way, when you buy the guide, you will have full control over the solution, you can create/replace/customize it whenever you need, decide how to plan the budget based on the module options etc..

This method ensures that you will have support for a long time. I think supportability is really important in these electronic projects. If you buy something, you should be able to get replacement parts from different sources easily. I should not be the bottleneck  Thus, I am not planning to sell parts. Instead, I can focus on making improvements that you can benefit from, rather than just manufacturing processes.

A quick heads-up, an upcoming upgrade package is coming in a week time frame. Existing owners will receive update free as usual.

I fully understand the small investment to obtain the files and documentation. Naturally with the time and effort that is required to produce a quality functional alternative to the OEM case, paying the developer is a small price to pay. Thanks again for your time and effort in bringing this design to fruition!!

I have just completed my Essential Case purchase of the CNC backplane, and the other 3D printed parts thru JLPCB, and the associated hardware (screws, antenna mounts, camera, etc…)

Unfortunately now I have to wait for all the parts to slowly make their way here…lols.

Cheers!
