New Hacker Gadgets Dual 21700 Battery Holder

同款电池,我从满电100%到20%电池警告,大概3小时30分钟。之前的18650可能2小时多一点。

我没有严格测试,正常使用。

Was this with a ssd installed or without? I removed the ssd and getting much better battery life. I guess I need to find a better one that sucks less juice.

我测试的sd卡的情况,后面我会切换到ssd,我的ssd是kioxia的bg60,发热量好像不太严重

I finally got it in the afternoon. Yesterday, I fully charged the battery before I installed it. Now I’m testing it. so far it’s working Great :grin: i’ll have some pictures soon

I’d really like to use a pair of Molicel INR21700-M65A 6500mAh - 26A, but i can’t seem to put my hand on these anywhere.

I registered to availability notification on nkon.nl, but well, no news since mid-august.
Does anyone have a reliable alternative source for them ?

@Tib did you manage to get yours before the shortage or are you still waiting on them like me ?

got mine in the post yesterday and just fitted it, i have 2 5000mah 21700 batteries that i drained them fully and fully charged them with my VC4H and they too the full 5000mah which is great. here are some pictures of my setup.

I’ve had my eyes on those 6500mah batteries since hackergadgets announced the 21700 battery holder but I’ve never received the notification and when the date for release was due I checked and it said sold out. My guess is they didn’t receive them on time.

I’ve emailed them when they will come into stock but no answer.

Holy crap! I didn’t know limewire still existed.

This is the only other site I’ve found that lists them. And it says they’ll be available in mid December, so 2.5 months from now on it seems.

It’s not the same molicel quality, but I’m waiting on some Linkdata 65Ps after I couldn’t find a M65A source. Been out just a bit longer, so ConvoyLights has a small amount of stock of them - though not cheap.

6500mAh, the usual 70°C discharge limit, mooch’s and diy500amp’s graphs look pretty good, rated at 52A discharge but more like 20-30A without temp cutoffs.

I’m getting really great battery life out of mine. I’m using a CM4, and this can literally last me almost all day. I’m guessing about 8+ Hours on light work like terminal or programing and watching a few Episodes of Star Trek

Just some feedback: I received my battery pack, and I’m extremely happy with it. I’ll run a few more charge cycles, but from what I’ve noticed so far, I’m getting about two extra hours of battery life. The current delivery also seems more stable now, and my radios’ reception has improved significantly.

I just received the same last week. however I facing some weirdness not sure if that is normal.
I did the battery calibration steps but the battery always just stop at 82% and never go pass this.
the batteries I am using is Molice 21700 4500mah. tried 4 different batteries and it all same.
tried both bookworm, kali and trixie from rex and same, the batteries percentage just does not go pass 82% and will always just shows charging.

can you please check if you’ve hardcoded values there?

Hi! I wrote about this before: calibrating the battery is not the same as specifying its exact type and capacity. The system estimates the capacity based on charging behavior, and sometimes that estimate is inaccurate, which can lead to those bizarre battery percentage readings.

If you share the exact battery model and specifications, I can try to configure the parameters for your batteries in config.txt, but I need the correct model information. For example, I did this for every battery model I’ve used. Here are my configuration examples:

# Molicel M35A 3500mAh
#dtoverlay=clockworkpi-custom-battery
#dtparam=charge_full_design_uah=7000000
#dtparam=energy_full_design_uwh=25900000

# Molicel P30B
#dtoverlay=clockworkpi-custom-battery
#dtparam=charge_full_design_uah=6000000
#dtparam=energy_full_design_uwh=22200000

# EVE INR21700-40PL
# 2 x 4000mAh = 8000mAh
dtoverlay=clockworkpi-custom-battery
dtparam=charge_full_design_uah=8000000
dtparam=energy_full_design_uwh=29200000

hi I have the molicel P50B

no hardcoded of battery percentage

#Molicel P50B
#2 x 5000mAh = 10000mAh
dtoverlay=clockworkpi-custom-battery
dtparam=charge_full_design_uah=10000000
dtparam=energy_full_design_uwh=36000000

Attention :fire: : These are the estimated values for your model. Use them at your own risk, but make sure it really is the Molicel P50B. Risk of setting your uConsole on fire

something is still not right, I can charge to 100% but very quickly the battery will depletes to 70% within minutes.
even at 80-90% the crackling noise is very audible
had a few instances that the battery was showing 90+% and the unit just shutdown by itself and no longer can start up.
when I plugged in the charge cable, it booted up and showed the battery is 50%

If you’ve set the parameters in config.txt, here’s what worked for me:

  1. After setting the parameters, I remove the batteries and leave the device without any power for about 15 minutes to reset the energy counters.

  2. Make sure the parameters in config.txt have been applied by running: upower -d

  3. If everything looks correct, recalibrate the battery: echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/class/power_supply/axp20x-battery/calibrate

Result from upower (my case):

battery
present: yes
state: charging
warning-level: none
energy: 29.2 Wh
energy-full: 29.2 Wh
energy-rate: 0.11367 W
charge-cycles: N/A
percentage: 100%
