PicoCalc 18650 battery advice?

Anyone in Canada….

While waiting for my PicoCalc to arrive, I’ve been looking for batteries. I found these Noma 18650 which appear to be the correct size. They are button top, and available for $20 for 4 from Canadian Tire stores. Online I can only find single cells for $20 plus another $15 shipping.

Is there anyone in Canada who has tried these 2000mAh batteries in a PicoCalc?

If it’s said that PicoCalc has integrated protection for overcharging the batteries, then for me it doesn’t work and I’ve been able to destroy set of these cheap batteries.

18650 cells don’t usually contain any branding because they’re not end-user consumer goods

the wrapping is done by Ecolux to hold the aftermarket protection circuit in place (it’s added on the negative side of the cell)

i have bought NCR18650GAs from them as well, both yours and mine are made in india rather than china, therefore they contain the Bureau of Indian Standards URL, this is noted in the Ecolux listing with “IND” on the title

Thank you for this information- it is reassuring to know. I have been using these batteries for the last few days since my PicoCalc arrived and they seem great.
