Radxa CM5 - Will it work?

Did you made any progress so far? I was trying out rex image but was struggling with kernel updates. I was then trying the kernel git repo of rex and dev-null2019 but was unable to compile a fully working kernel.

I was able to compile rex kernel sources by creating some basic kernel config but none of the uConsole specific parts where working. Even when i enabled apx20x, cwu50 and OCP8178 nothing uConsole specific is working. However i had HDMI out and was at least able to tell the system was booting.

lol… I see you haven’t read the Hacker Gadgets thread…

I’m still not in the mood to explain how it happened…

That’s rough man…and they are out of stock. I went to buy the 32g/256emmc version this morning (which was in stock when I went to bed last night) so I’m just hoping it’s not too long before a restock.

on another note, the rpi cm5 drops right in and works with the hacker gadgets nvme battery board and Ethernet/usb3 expansion card. Which is cool. But I just really want a radxa cm5 :sob:

If you’re brave you may be able to solder a new hirose connector onto the board. It would be a task but not impossible

Its not gonna be that easy I would wait a while before you buy will be testing stuff what works and what don’t.

What resoldering or dropping in the pi? I’m not saying everyone should drop the cm5 in the adapter board, but I did and it works I was willing to take a risk for fun. That said, literally everything works. I’ve been using it heavily for 3 days now. I have it hooked to Ethernet and running a usb c hub with kb and mouse, with hdmi out to my monitor.

I get that soldering a b2b connector might seem harrowing, but a lot of us here have full rework stations at our desk. And it is a ā€œhackerā€ device after all so why place limits on ourselves?
