Hello everyone, my uConsole’s trackball always gets stuck when moving downward. Sometimes when I try to scroll down, it even goes up instead. Have you encountered a similar issue? Is there a solution?

A lot of people replace the stock trackball with a trackball with this one. Model EVQWJN007
[https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802802650565.html](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802802650565.html)

I’ve replaced my 2 uConsoles and the DevTerm when I had one with them. 100% better then the stock one IMO.
Updating the keyboard firmware will also help a bit, or flash the keyboard with the community QMK frimware for the best resaults. Again IMO.

Can flashing community firmware fix a trackball’s malfunction, or only slightly improve it?
Also, a relatively dumb question: how do you flash keyboard firmware?

It will help the stock trackball but a replacement trackball will make the biggest difference.
Here’s the post with the QMK firmware for the uConsole. Use the firmware dated 20240922 it’s 5-6 post down in the thread. Again for best results replace the trackball.

If you have one, you could try the original link with a VPN. It still works for me, just set your location to a different country. That way you can be sure its the right part..

Recently, I had this very same issue.
I have a bottle of alcohol (70%) in spray, purchased at a local drugstore.

I removed the frontplate, picked the trackball, sprayed alcohol on it and started to move it in all directions. It was very wet so I decided left it to dry.
After that, I assembled the uConsole again and the problem was solved.

But it doesn’t hurt to have spare trackballs.

Rex,thank you very much, I replaced the trackball, very smoothly now, that enhanced my sense of happiness。
