Thanks I will add the calls app and keep hunting for something that can do sms in a threaded view. That split incoming and sent is a PITA…
Split? What app do you use to send and receive SMS? chatty
serves me well, and you may wanna give that a spin too. It’s a GNOME/Purism app too, so it’s tested enough to be working.
I was using modemManager GUI. it has a section up top for incoming messages and a section at the bottom for sent messages. it doesn’t display a conversation thread for a phone number which is what I’m looking for.
Mm-hmm. Definitely chatty
. And it goes well with the GNOME Calls app.
thanks for the suggestions. the combination of gnome-calls, gnome-contacts, and gnome-chats gives me pretty much full phone functionality. except for sending mms messages. for some reason that setting is greyed out in chatty i cant put in the mms string. do i have to update the modem firmware for that to work? im still on the 9001 not the 9011 yet.
thanks all! I’ll give those suggestions a try too
re mms: for some mobile providers you seem to need a different APN for mms functionality. could that be the reason?
chatty
appears to require mmsd-tng
to enable MMS. If the 9001 firmware works well for your use cases, you don’t have to “upgrade”. The 9011 firmware isn’t so much of an upgrade than it is a protocol/driver change. I know I didn’t have to mess around with my module’s firmware.
So I was able to put in mms settings but still no go with actual mms messages’. I’m going to play with it a while more. are you able to connect to the fast.tmobile app or the epc.tmobile one? the fast app gives me ppp errors and only the epc app connects I wonder if that has something to do with mms.
Hahahahaha. I’m not from America, sadly. MMS isn’t used in my side of the world, so my cellular service deactivated it recently. Have you tried searching elsewhere on the Internet to understand what each T-Mobile profile is used for? Do verify the profile’s credentials as well to troubleshoot the connection errors.
Is anyone had the chance to internet working with 4G ?!
I did manage to have Calls and SMS but no internet…I am using Free Mobile in France if anyone managed to use it, please let us know.
