mine is 1945x, black cm4 +4g, and it’s not in the third batch. i guess probably they only have silver cases produced this batch? anyway i just wish more information could be provided…

Pure speculation, take with plenty of salt:
I wonder if the 3rd batch is being partially held up by the 4G module issues some people are reporting. If CWPI’s packing plant people are trying to find and replace as many faulty 4G modules as they can and only shipping orders filled with ones they _think_ work or are wifi only that might explain why it is so erratic.

I’ve been told over the last 4 months that i was going to be in the next batch. The last email i got said either in the third, or the beginning group of the fourth. I’m not in club doubt over the existence of the uConsole, but I’m not a fan of being led on without new and accurate news. There’s also holiday in production land right now, that doesn’t help anything.

@AlexDuan do you have predictions on the next batch, are batches getting bigger now that you are mastering production after 3 waves? How big is the backlog? Gives us some more information, we all know that something might change but having any information from the above would help to keep up 🙂

I emailed trying to gain more info because became a bit nervous after my order when seeing some post here of people waiting an almost a year.
I got the following:
> The uConsole orders are still suffering from former delays. But there isn’t significant delay any more.
> We are speed up to meet the needs. For now, the most uncertain thing is the supply of CM4, which is effecting not only us, but also the global market.
> But the main supplier has promised us that the supply will become stable in a few weeks.
So sounds like CM4 is the biggest hold up. Which of course isn’t surprising. 🙈

I’ve been following the uconsole for a while(have a Game shell and devterm) but was on the fence because I didn’t really need one…
Now, my son is asking for one for his birthday next year(August). With production possibly increasing, what are the odds that if ordered today I’d get it close to next August? Is wifi better than Wifi/4g for shipping times? I know the CM4 is the biggest hold up and I don’t think I have one around that he could use.

We can’t tell the future, but the first round of orders typically takes the longest. I ordered a uConsole in early November and will probably get it by November, and eh, if it’s what you want there’s not a lot else like it.
Though I suppose you could find a used PocketCHIP. I loved that hunk of e-waste but the keyboard buttons on those are terrible.

I would go for it. It’s not super expensive for what it is and you can warn him now that it might not come in time. And they’ve been super good with refunds so far if he changes his mind later and desperately wants a bike or something

I had one of those…briefly, like you said the keyboard was pure trash.
I’ll probably put a order in… worst case he isn’t interested in it when it comes in and I’ll have a new toy to play with.
