Backlight brightness option

The option list for backlight LCD shows the following:

Option backlight LCD 96

I would like to increase that to 150

So I do the following

I type into the prompt, option backlight LCD 155

This results in an immediate brightness of the screen as desired

Upon reboot, I’m back to the dim original 96.

How do I get this option into the boot option list permanently. The alt brightness keys work. Typing the full option as desired works but I cannot get it into the option list.

Pico 2 with latest uf2 in bios 1.6

I know the command ‘option save’ no longer exist, and it is my understanding that simply typing in

Option backlight LCD 155

Then cycling to off and back on should update the option list.

What am I doing wrong?

By the way, this 2350 chip is wonderful,

Update

When the battery power is low or discharged the default on the screen brightness lowers. Both mine were showing 3.7 V when tested.

Added a new fully charged batteries and the brightness is back up to normal at start up.

So make sure your batteries are fully charged or close to a good charge.

It would appear the picocalc monitors the battery health and changes the display to match. Low battery power equals dim display.

Cheers

It does not. But it can be that the power management IC was having a problem with the batteries. Under “normal” conditions, using the latest bios, PicoMite/WebMite 6.1+ periodically request the backlight setting from the bios. Under some conditions the request can be delayed.

Interesting.

The symptoms were as follows, without knowing the batteries were low, and all I had to do was look at the yellow light indicator.

I would set option backlight LCD 200

The display will brighten, I would select the picocalc off and back on.

Request option list

And find option backlight LCD 32.

I would do this on subsequent attempts over the next half hour trying to determine without realizing the batteries were low, that the option backlight LCD would randomly come up with numbers regardless of my option request ranging from 32 to 96.

As soon as the batteries were swapped out for fully charged and a green LED indicator, my option request became permanent and were reflected by the option backlight LCD displaying my requested setting.

I know what the word soon means, but that is what I did thinking that the system was selecting a lower brightness factor based on battery health.
