CM5 prices CRAZY

If you are waiting to order your CM5 do not wait.
I looked at them when I placed my Uconsole order and the 16gb Lite wifi unit was $140. Then when my hacker gadget order showed up I looked again and it was up to $200 so I ordered right away. Decided to look today and that same unit is now $300.
So do not wait or you may be stuck at a much higher price. Hard to believe memory prices are the only thing driving these prices up, there has to be other factors.
I’m leaving my Clockwork Pi order going as I would like to build a second one without all the Hacker gadget stuff but WOW those prices may make me forget that idea.

I totally got ripped off when I got mine, I paid $300 on 2026-02-23.

I was okay with it because the shipping was fast, it was a big upgrade, and it is probably the most expensive upgrade I’ll ever need to make to my uConsole. I can’t imagine what I would have paid if I waited 6 weeks.

Depressing. I wonder what the scalpers are going to charge on top of that. I have been kicking myself for paying for a 32gb radxa cm5 but it might end up being not so bad.

Check Seeed Studio

16GB ram, 32GB eMMC WiFi

$225

The 16GB lite is $300. The 16eMMC is $320 and the 64eCCM is $330 but for some strange reason the 32gb eCCM is $225. So anyone that wants that config should jump on it before they change that price.

Yea, I just bought my second uconsole and THEN went to source the CM5… To say the least, I was not excited to see the tracking info for the uconsole… that thing is going to be unbuilt for a while…

I was glad I ordered the CM5 8GB lite WiFi at the same time as I ordered the uConsole - £80.70 from Pimoroni in September, now out of stock everywhere and cheapest I can find is £151.12 from Farnell with delivery in August.

Prices of anything with RAM or storage have just gone insane over the last 9 months.

Just a heads up for anyone in the EU that I got a cm5 16gb with WiFi for €185ish plus postage from raspberrypi.dk

Best I could do elsewhere was €245 - 300

Wanted to thank you again. The 16gb cm5 arrived today and works perfectly. Had no idea about that shop. I wanted to pre-order a 8gb one from farnell for the same price and wait 2 months for it. lol

No problem at all. I’m actually still waiting for mine but the nice little kicker is that the hackergadgets goodies may have a similar eta so I’ll be busy

Have you got to spin it up yet? If so, what distro? I’m planning to have an arch/plasma main driver on the nvme board when that comes, and then a selection of speciality/sdr OS like kali etc on some sdcards

I actually also plan to order hackergadgets upgrade for using an SSD. Have also found a good priced SSD Silicon Power 256GB for only 53€ on amazon.

On mine im using Rex’s Trixie with labwc. This is actually my first linux device so its all new to me.

Im using mine so I can lazily learn to code in my bed, and am using vscode with AI autocomplete which is why I chose the 4G version as well if I ever need to go outside and need internet.

Have also ES-DE installed for retro games and the uConsoles keyboard feels amazing for playing.

I plan to just take out the microsd and keep it as a clone backup in case something goes wrong.

Is the SSD this one? If so, a good choice. I have that one and it’s working great.

Yes that is the exact same one. I am very glad to hear that!! Took me hours to find a good and affordable one. Was especially focused on finding a DRAMless one and low writing speeds to save money.

Thanks, @YourDadsDad!
