MPV movie player

I AM NOT A PROGRAMMER. I know nothing and what I do know I have learned from reading googling and using chat gpt. With all that said with tenacity some cursing and watching YouTube I can figure things out. But this has got me stumped. I have the Luckfox Lyra RK3506G2 and this is the image I am using picocalc-luckfox-lyra-update-sd-2025-03-27-sdl.img I want to run retroarch and a video player. I have retroarch running but somewhere along the line and I cant remember why I installed x11 to get retroach to work. And it looked like MPV was going to work But for some reason I cannot get MPV to play a video for more than about 15 seconds and the screen goes black. When it goes black I cannot exit out of it either. Escape doesn’t work. Q for quit doesn’t work. The back button doesn’t work. I have to reboot. I have googled looked on youtube and went to chatgpt to no avail. Has anyone got a direction they can point me in.

I was able to consistently reproduce this bug on another Ubuntu system using the same fbdev driver. The screen goes blank whenever I run high-refresh-rate applications like ffplay or picoarch under X11 for a random time(about 1~2 minutes). It appears the LCD controller itself hangs or shuts down, while the OS remains fully functional—audio continues to play, VNC shows the desktop is still running, and I can even blindly use the keyboard to bring up a terminal and reboot the system.

I suspect the issue is related to the implementation of the fbdev driver by hisptoot. It seems that high-frequency screen updates combined with high CPU load lead to timing misalignments or out-of-sync signaling in the SPI transfer, which causes the LCD to crash.

I eventually resolved this by compiling a new Linux kernel using a different driver, and the bug is no longer present.

So I thought I saw an image with your name attached to it. Is that the one that worx?
