I want to follow this guide for updating a brand new Picocalc. Do I have to assemble the complete Picocalc to update the STM32 or I can I leave the screen out for the update and then finish assembling the Picocalc after flashing?
Try…
Nuke the flash with…

Then 6.00.003 for Pico2W from…
You’ll need to update the keyboard (main board STM32) bios too… v1.2 working fine for me yet there is 1.4 available now.
Follow this for instructions re keyboard bios. The software can be a little confusing yet you’ll get there.….
Changing cores. Be VERY careful not to put downward pressure on the main board. Not only did I tape the screen down (avoiding the light guide top left) but modified the centre two case screws so they stayed in place holding the main board in position. I also use the rubber handle of my micro pliers to gently lever out the cores (alternating from one end to the other to keep the core parallel to its socket)….
You can update the STM32 with the screen out, great question actually. I also recommend taping your screen down after making sure it’s in there correctly. Best of luck!!
