A04 and emacs GUI

I notice that some x apps work (for example, xedit).

I installed emacs (sudo apt install emacs) and expected it to launch a GUI from the shell. But it always launches in CLI mode.

Can someone clue me in?

Make sure you have emacs-gtk installed rather than emacs-nox.

That did it! I’m pretty sure I did an install of emacs but perhaps that aliased to emacs-nox. During the install of emacs-gtk it automatically uninstalled emacs-nox.
