Exactly! As light environments, you can use the Pi interface (lxde based DE) or xfce4, a bit more heavier but much more customizable. It’s my preferred after KDE. An other type of DE exits too : sway. It’s a tilling based environment, tricky to configure, but very efficient on the uConsole.
I’m fascinated by the Linux universe, I’m learning on the job but if I can answer the questions, it’s with pleasure!
I almost forgot: you have the choice between x11 and Wayland as a display server. Wayland is still recent, but avoids screen tears, while x11 is very well supported, but favors these tears. Pi UI, KDE and Sway use Wayland and xfce4 uses x11.
I’m going to try KDE first, and after I study Linux or whatever, I’ll try the others.
I don’t have enough information about them now, so I have a lot to learn.
Thank you for being my teacher. I want to try what you mentioned right now, but I’m still waiting for my uConsole, which I ordered in June. LOL. What I’m doing now is just learning! :>
I’m not sure, I’ll have to reflash a sd with it and test. what DE did you install? KDE audio worked when I installed it on the lite image. The software for the audio was already in the lite image by default, the packages are in the repo for people wanting to add it to another debian distro to use on the DevTerm/uConsole.
I was mistaken, the speaker is working, but pavucontrol does not connect to pulseaudio and volume can’t be adjust. I tried installing pipewire and the problem persists.
You`re probably missing the “pipewire-pulse” package whicht enables pavucontrol (written for pulseaudio) to configure change settings on the pipewire side.
update away, you’ll even receive device kernel updates as they come available.
make sure to pick your device in the config.txt file after you flash the sd but before you boot.
What DE do you have? I had a similar bug with KDE when the screen was locked. This bug disappeared with the kernel update.
Indeed, there is no standby mode. The most effective way to reduce consumption is to turn off the screen! This is the highest consumption item.
when my screen poweroff any time,it wont wake up any more。when this happen l need press the top button 10s to wake it up by my hand。(uconsole-bookworm,type ‘reboot’ code does works well similar。
So when you reboot you have to hold down the power button to turn it back on?
How big is that LiPo you have hooked up to it? I thought about doing that too.
