Hi all,
Just wanted to boot up my uConsole this day and it won´t boot up.
This is what I am getting when I attach a HDMI cable. So at least the system starts and tries to boot up. But I will not detect the sd card.
What I tried:
- Flash the latest image → did not boot
- rewrite “boot from SD” with Raspberry Pi Imager (tried on the eMMC and on SD Card) → no changes
- Tried a new SD card → did not help either
Now I`m a little bit lost. Did anyone has a guideline how to setup the uConsole?
My CM4 Module should be one with 1 or 8gb eMMC pluf Wifi onboard.
And I know it worked some months before …
I used the CM4 in another hardware. So there meight be some stuff on that eMMC. Is there any description how to get rid of that?
Any help would be much appreciated
Dominik
you can have either one: emmc or sd card
it’s a hardware limitation. you can’t boot from sd card on cm emmc version.
Are u sure? I am pretty sure that I booted the system from SD initially.
But I can try to boot from eMMC.
Or did you mean the bootloader has to be placed on the eMMC and then I can boot the rest from SD ? Is there any preparation info for the eMMC available ?
@white-round-square is absolutely sure. No CM with EMMC can boot from an SD card.
You either need a CM I/O board or a HackerGadgets’ CM adapter in order to flash the CM’s EMMC with the OS to boot.
Well … I have to check my notes. Pretty sure I never flashed the eMMC.
Anyway … I have a io Board here for flashing. Will put the image on the eMMC and don´t use the SD at all. Will see if that works.
Thx for that advise
The eMMC is connected to the same interface on the SOC as the SD card would have been, so if you have eMMC the SD will never work
Ok have it up and running now.
So I suppose that the SD card was not needed at my first tests
Thx for your help!
Btw: flashed it with an IO Board. I think that is not possible with the uConsole itself.
You’re right, that isn’t possible with the uConsole in its default configuration. However, if you use a CM4/5 adapter board from HackerGadgets (as many forum members do), you can make use of its functionality to do so.
Since I have an io board (surprisingly 32GB storage) I am fine with that for now.
But anyway … Thx for that suggestion.
At the moment my biggest issue is the Wifi … This is bad … really bad.
And I miss more USB ports. But that is another topic itself …
