I can't start from SD I have a cm4 with emmc

I have a CM4 with EMMC memory, there must be a way to boot from an SD card. Can anyone help?

The sd card slot doesn’t actually physically connect to devices that have an emmc. It’s not a software issue. I have seen some people boot from internal USB, but I’m not sure what you’d have to do to do that if it’s possible at all.

you need a carrier board to flash emmc, sd card won’t work

Either use an external adapter, or buy a Lite version of the CM4 or CM5.

As others have said, the eMMc version of the CM4 physically can’t, because the eMMC is wired in where the sd card connections would have been.

USB boot only works with old v4 mainboards that were shipped with the first devterms, v5 boards don’t power the USB bus until the kernel is loaded
