Micropython PicoCalc Library question

Hello again! I’ve been tinkering with the Micropython OS on the PicoCalc. It’s been fun, but I’ve been a little confused about were and how I can find documentation on the PicoCalc library. I would very much appreciated the help. Thanks!

I guess, you have to RTFS: GitHub - zenodante/PicoCalc-micropython-driver
(at least, that’s what I found the easiest way).

I have done that I found out how to use the display, but I still don’t understand how to use the keyboard. Any tips? Thanks!

I’m running into this issue as well. Using the micropython firmware from clockworkpi… I see there is PicoKeyboard library available but am not able to import it or use it in my python script. I am just trying to use it to check for a keypress.

In addition, is there any way to get battery percentage level in micropython?

Use Picoware’s MicroPython. The others haven’t been updated in almost half a year now

Using any of the software that ships with the PicoCalc for more than just testing the device works after assembly is probably a bad idea. Like with all Clockwork devices, the “official” software is unlikely to ever be updated. And some of the software had bugs that have been fixed since, not to mention missing features that were added later. But the community here has been providing all sorts of amazing options and it’s worth searching the forums to find what you might need.

All but one of the Micopython ports (there were at least three at one point, maybe more?) seem to have been abandoned. There was a flurry of activity for a while that almost seemed like a rite of passage where someone would appear on the forum, port MicroPython for their own project, post it, and then disappear without updating it to extend more support to the PicoCalc. There has been some dabbling with porting CircuitPython too, but that didn’t really seem to go anywhere. Picoware’s MicroPython is still going strong though.

UPDATE:
I took a loot at github and apparently there is one other MicroPython port of the PicoCalc that seems to be alive:

along with a dashboard/environment that is still being updated:

I haven’t tried these, so YMMV, but might be worth a look!

Great insights!! It also looks like the newer PicoCalcs ship with a .bin bootloader and a few of the “default” firmwares. So i think while they aren’t updating software, they may potentially include other (maybe even newer) projects in future PicoCalcs
