New uConsole (CM5) — 8 keys dead (A S D F G H O P)

Hi all,

Just assembled a brand-new uConsole with a CM5 and 8 keys don’t register at all: A, S, D, F, G, H, O, P. Everything else on the keyboard works fine.

I’m fairly sure it’s a hardware fault on the keyboard module, but wanted to check if anyone here has seen the same pattern (and ideally fixed it) before I go the RMA route.

Setup

  • uConsole + CM5
  • OS images tested: Rex’s Kali (6.12.67) and Rex’s Trixie (6.12.87) — same dead keys on both

What I’ve already tried

  • evtest while pressing the dead keys → zero input events, so the MCU isn’t seeing them at all
  • Reflashed the stock keyboard firmware with the official tool → no change
  • Toggled Fn-lock, retested → no difference

Question for anyone who’s been here:

  • Anything else worth checking before I request a replacement?

Thanks in advance!

It should obviously work out of the box but if you were ever going to entertain Lulu’s trackpad mod you might as well just order it as it comes with a new KB
