I accidentally left my UConsole in the car when I went in to watch a movie. When I came out, I tried to show it to a friend. I pressed the power button and got a slight flicker on the screen, but no further activity. Thinking the batteries might not have been charged, when I returned home, I plugged in to the USB-C and left it for a few hours. Another try to power on gave the same results. I have a CM4 with eMMC, no 4G, and the original OS on an SD card.
I opened the unit and reseated all connections. What do I try next?
With a EMMC CM4 you need to flash the OS to the EMMC. Your CM4 cannot access the SD card slot if it has EMMC.
Then, I must be mistaken. The unit booted properly from the SD card previously. The unit failed to boot after having been in a car from 4:45 until 7:00 one evening.
You sure you have a model with emmc?
No, I’m not, and from what you’ve said, I don’t.
Make sure everything is fully seated on the inside, charge it up for a hour or so and try again. You can also flash a more updated OS. There are a quite a few if you search the forum as the stock OS has a 4 year old kernel and is really outdated.
check the batteries arent flat
OK. I went through and re-seated everything. Batteries are fully charged. Now a) I get when powering up is the green light. No orange light and no activity on the screen.
Try flashing another SD with either the stock or an updated image to see if the SD failed in anyway.
try connect the uConsole to a monitor with miniHDMI cable. Mine had the same problme as you describe when i edited some wrong config file, which made the hdmi to be the default display port instead of the LCD.
This. I had mine die in a similar way, and it was because the SD card had died.
