Am I missing something? Because as far as I know, uConsole is already using a MIPI DSI screen.
It’s what you get when you ask AI to write a whole project proposal instead of just asking you why you went for an adapter board vs a full new motherboard? Because I assume you looked into this already?

I always tell people not to use AI especially for these kind of devices. There’s a lot of incorrect info in that post about the stock hardware and now it’s posted here forever like it’s gospel.

I agree. That’s why I posted this here, so that incorrect assumptions can be corrected and I can update the original post. I will do that now. Given this information, it seems like we should have some near drop in replacements… However, most if not all require midframe and faceplate modifications.
I did look for an adapter, but routing of the ribbon cable, space, and power stability issues caused me to look for a custom board… mainly due to bad AI information.
Big problem with making a new main board is software support. Someone would still need to maintain drivers of build of the kernel for it overlays OS images. I’ve already been approached about maintaining one new main board for the device and that’s a lot of work.
Also, a good callout that I didn’t even know that I should consider. Also, thank you for all your hard work @Rex I don’t think this community would be as successful without you!
