(pic not mine)
In the course of repairing and updating the secondhand picocalc I picked up, I noticed that the right speaker was way less loud then the left. When I opened it up, I noticed it was loose and didn’t have the adhesive, so I used a couple tiny bits of double sided tape to hold it in. It was still wasn’t very loud, so I though I’d swap left and right speakers to see if it was bad… of course that’s when I learned what the problem was.
In the course of removing the left speaker, the adhesive strip came off, so I made the same double sided tape stips for both sides, and then they both side were equally lower volume compared to my other PicoCalc’s. Apparently the adhesive adhesive holds the speakers down so they can resonant against the casing and make the sound louder.
I’m trying to think up solutions… and the last thing I want to do is glue them in… and I’m trying to find replacements. As I just repaired a broken mounting stud on it, I’m reluctant to open it up for a while till it’s had a good amout of time to fully cure, so does anyone know the physically dimensions of the speakers? Better yet, does anyone know of a source for them? I’m close, but can’t find an exact match yet.
