Well-worn consoles

I see a lot of pictures of people’s uConsoles on here but it strikes me as odd that everyone’s consoles are pristine because my console started to show signs of wear after a single day of (admittedly extremely rough) use. This is my primary computer and at various times, except for my phone, it has been my only computing device. I use it for research, reading, gaming, and programming, and I love the thing to death. This is the first time I’ve owned a computer for longer than six months without needing to replace a single part; my Thinkpads were tough but I did have to bring spares of a couple pieces I knew were fragile when traveling and I’d have an unsalvageable unit sometimes within a year.

I’d like to see if anyone else has a uConsole that has seen some tough love. Attached is a photo of my uConsole from each angle (a large stitched .png image) so those that are interested can see what the wear on my unit looks like, and perhaps make a papercraft uConsole of their own if they have gone stark raving mad :upside_down_face:. It’s taken hit after hit, including being frozen and nearly set on fire, and just keeps on going. Even the dinky little Samsung SD card I put in here is chugging along happily. My console has the all-in-one SDR mod from Hacker Gadgets, though I taped over the “Designed by hackergadgets” blurb on the quick mount because it’s hard enough to convince people this is a normal computer when it has five antenna connections and four visible USB ports.

Sorry for keeping you on the edge of your seat. I am replying directly to your comment in the hope that it will notify you that my post is finished.

For those of you watching the rerun, I bumped my mouse, initiating this thread 15 minutes before I had finished writing my first post.

Thanks, it was worth the read :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Your console has been well used by the look of it. Mine is still quite young and I’m babying it a bit too, but it won’t last. I’m still waiting for a second uConsole to be shipped and my HackerGadgets board shipping update is currently showing ‘International flight has departed’, so it should be here soon.

Once I get my head around the SDR and other goodies with the AIO board, I do intend to take mine out and about and to do some Python coding on it.
