Hi guys - do we think we’re ever going to see an official, stable image for the CM5? I looked around here and it does seem like there are a few images that can potentially support the CM5, but might have various issues… is Clockworkpi working on an official/stable release?
I seriously doubt clockwork is going to put out an os to support the CM5. If you want the best there is to offer from the community, look to the images put out by @Rex. There has been a lot of improvement lately. The community osses are maintained and enhanced often. To my knowledge clockwork hasn’t done anything to the clockwork pi os in over a year.
Yeah, the “official” Clockwork Pi OS for every device released so far is way out of date and unlikely to ever be maintained. At best, they are ways to check your initial hardware, but almost all of them (or maybe all of them by now) can’t be updated properly. That goes for Gameshell, Devterm, and more recently uConsole. Clockwork makes great hardware, but it’s the community that ensures there is software, and especially up to date software, to run on it.
I’m also having good luck with @Rex 's image. Every once in awhile I’ll get a start up to black screen (illuminated, but no video output), but honestly the CM5 is so fast, that a quick restart isn’t an issue. I like the blind ‘power + enter’ method. I know that’s something that is being worked on, and I might be a version or two behind at this point.
All this just to say that you should give that image a try.
