Hey! I identify as a maniac. You give us all a bad name! ![]()
Thanks… The Facebook user has been posting on uConsole FB group and it seems that he knows Hal personally. So I guess that is good news.
And I do believe that ClockWorkPi has incentives to keep uConsole alive as long as they can by offering options for upgrade such as main boards and carrier boards. I remembered that people used to talk about core modules as well.
So fingers crossed!
I really could use an upgrade. And by the time the main board is ready, I guess the ram and storage shortage would be over, the CM5 price would be normal again.
But so far, I am happy with CM4 with 8GB of ram. I am basically doing everything with it now, including writing my term papers and finishing assignments. It keeps me focused because multi-tasking is painful. And I wonder if CM5 would take this away from me.
Well, what can we say, we are maniacs!
I received a CM5 with 16 GB of RAM last week (the special offer from Denmark), and I still have an unassembled uConsole here (as spare parts too), but I’m so happy with my CM4 8 GB uConsole that I don’t really feel the urge to assemble another one with the CM5. In the end, I ordered the CM5 because it was reasonably priced. It’s better to have it than to need it.
Let’s see if I play around with it over the next few days.
Let us know the difference if you decided to play with it!
But I better save up from now on, just in case the ram and storage shortage is longer than most people predicted…
A lot of people say it would end by the mid of 2028 because by the time majority of the data centers would be finished and the extra productivity would make them even cheaper than it used to be.
I truly hope they are right.
And I really thank the sales person who convinced me to get 64GB of DDR5 6000mhz RAM instead of 32GB. I could not have afford it now…
Of course, I will be more than happy to do that.
