Batteries, batteries, batteries

Ok so I’m having a lot of beginner related issues with the uconsole but overall pretty excited about it. It works fine plugged into a charger but I don’t seem to have any luck getting it to run on batteries.

At first I tried some Westinghouse batteries. 2500 mah Didn’t work.
Tried some Imren batteries 3300 mah. No luck.

I see a lot of posts recommending specific brands and against Amazon, but I can’t find anything for the criteria of what requirements this thing has for batteries.

Are we just using trial and error until we find the right batteries?

You want Samsung35E batteries. I got these off Amazon and they work fine for me, I get about 5 hours out of them. Amazon is fine as long as you pay attention to what you are getting.

I’ve also had good experiences with the Samsung batteries, and also Panasonic. I purchased them from this store, and they work great in both the Devterm and the uConsole. Not sure what’s going on with the price there though – they must be having closeout sales on some stuff, becasue when I bought them a year+ ago, they were definitely more expensive.

Main thing to look for with both uConsole and Devterm is the Continuous Discharge Rating (max). It needs to be high enough, at around 10A or 8A, since these devices draw a lot of power at once when the CPU is really being used. The Devterm needs even more if the printer is being used.

Also worth noting that regardless of brand, anything claiming to be significantly over 3500mah is fake, and should be avoided. The fake ones are often cheaply made, and if anything is going to catch fire, it would be those. Plus, they just won’t last as long, or work at all on the uConsole/Devterm since they usually don’t even provide close to 3500mah, let alone what they claim.

Great replies.

I’m also wondering if they’re charging. Does it charge the batteries if you plug the USB C to the side of the uConsole while the batteries are inserted?

yes, it will charge when plugged in.

Stupid question but are you sure the batteries you put in were charged enough? Did you buy a separate charger for the batteries or did you just buy the batteries? If you did not buy a charger there might not be enough power inside of them to turn the Uconsole on and it charges the battery is via USBC pretty slow, comparably speaking.

The batteries were not charged but I read that new ones should have ~30 percent charge on them out the box. The Westinghouse ones were probably likely to be empty since I got them from a friend who held onto em for a year.

The Imrens are brand new though.

Also the charging indicator was not coming on.

However I did notice that the screws around the battery pack were a bit loose. After tightening them I noticed that the green indicator came on and the screen would turn on for a split second before going blank.

If I plugged in the USB C then the orange charging indicator lite came on. I’m going to see if it has any charge after a couple hours. If that is the case then it can probably be chalked up to an assembly issue.

The battery board is a little finicky to get popped in and screwed down properly. Sounds like that may have been the issue. It’s definitely going to take a while to get batteries that are anywhere close to 30% fully charged based off the charging rates I have been reading. Good luck.

So I gave it some time to charge and it works. We can add Imren to the confirmed working batteries list.

How much battery life do you get out of them? I was getting about 2-3 hours on a dud pair of batteries (from a decent brand) and 7-8 hours on my current set of Samsung 35Es.

Not sure yet. I didn’t run the battery through. But I unplugged it when it was at 100 and it took 20 mins to get down to 96

Most batteries are garbage, or reclaimed. Get good samsung, or quality vape batteries they are usually tested and specced properly. Also if you are not charging be sure to make the config change (found in this forum) for the charge controller else it has a very low default limit and wont ever charge.
