Battery not charging after not using for a few years

I haven’t used my GameShell for a few years and now the battery is not charging. The device can turn on with USB plugged in, but the battery stays at 0% even after overnight. I have seen some related posts but they suggests the batteries die. I personally don’t believe the battery can die so easily. I have many Nintendo handhelds, some are close to 20 years old and the battery still works.

I read some posts about new uConsole has issues of slow or no charging due to clockworkpi programming error. uConsole: How Does Charging Work? - #9 by supercom32 I wonder if this is what is happening here. Maybe somewhere in the code says no charging when battery is at 0% or when battery is 0% it thinks there is no battery attached and therefore doesn’t charge it. Does anyone have idea about how I might fix this issue? Is there a way to force the console to apply current to the charging port?

You can try buying another Nokia BL-5C to see if it was battery issue or charging circuit. They are quiet easy to find

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, after digging through the forum and also searching related topics for Raspberry Pi, I couldn’t find anything that can force the charging. I can buy a charger to charge the old battery but that cost more than a new battery, so I guess getting a new battery is the best way to go.

I bought one from ebay got it today does not seem to power on when i plug in usb charger there a orange light that flashed on the back. Any ideas anyone the top board gets quite warm too is that normal.

I think i resolved the issue was a bad battery i had a BL5C luckly and is taking a charge now.

Glad it worked out. I was surprised that the battery died because the battery of my GBA SP still works.
