Hey yall.
Recently I got my PicoCalc and assembled it according to the manual. When typing, the keys click and the keyboard feels good, but it often swallows keypresses to the point of being useless for typing something on it. Some keys are worse than others. It works when pressing the key down hard.
I made a video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/dcEPok2fLuM (most useful with sound).
Is there anything I can do to improve the keyboard performance?
Best regards,
Tobi
I’m experiencing the same problem with key presses, especially with the T key and the 5 key.
My PicCalc shows the same effect, esp. with the „r“, so that „run“ often needs re-typing the whole line.
Similar difficulties for a few months with mine, key clicks but no character registered so I often need to cursor back and hit it again… Not sure if it’s a mechanical problem or anti-bounce timing of the stm32 software.
Someone glued a tiny piece of plastic wrap on each dome. This gave just enough height so that the keys pressed the domes further when the user typed and they made better contact. You could use a little piece of a Post-It note on a few domes to see if it helps. If it doesn’t, the Post-It adhesive peels right off and the domes will be in original condition. If it does work, you can either leave the Post-Its there or replace them with something more permanent.
I’ll try if that improves it, thank you.
Now that’s thinking outside the keyboard!
