Thanks again @Rex , I installed the package and everything worked flawlessly!
General question about the Meshtastic though. It looks like 915 Mhz is most used here in Panama, but Panama or LATAM are not one of the region options, and i dont see any way to set it manually.
Honestly, where?
My google-fu used to be pretty good, but google got a bit crap recently.
And i tried US region with slot 20 as mentioned, but that defaults to a higher frequency, around 918 or 919. And no nodes found, while i know there should be some here, at 915
Edgars comment in that post and a comment in a reddit thread. Maybe a different channel besides 20? You sure there’s nodes around you?
The freq can be between 902–928MHz according to meshtastic.
Went through all the thread, but I’m unable to see /dev/ttyS0 in pygpsclient.
I’m on CM4, and sudo minicom -D /dev/ttyS0 -b 9600 works correctly.
Tried
reinstalling pygpsclient,
I have enable_uart=1 in /boot/firmware/config.txt
i have console=tty1 root=PARTUUID=a6ac0915-02 rootfstype=ext4 fsck.repair=yes rootwait quiet fbcon=rotate:1 psi=1 splash plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles cfg80211.ieee80211_regdom=IT in /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt
Where should i look next? really don’t get why it does not show up /dev/ttyS0 in pygpsclient
Rex, thanks for all the help you’ve provided the community! I’ve been having my own host of issues.
Currently I am running your Bookworm 6.12.y image. I have my AIO board installed and go through the Hackergadgets install instructions and when I get to the Meshtastic setup I cannot get Meshtastic to function. When I do a status check it shows good, but once I try to open the web browser it always shows “Unable to connect” then I rerun the status and it shows that the service has failed.
Also after completing this step and rebooting the system the screen no longer functions and I have to connect an external monitor.
The eeprom is up to date and the configs previously provided are in place. Any idea why the screen would not function once I install the meshtasticd service?
The system boots and reboots fine prior to that piece.
Also I attempted to run through your install here, after I’ve gone through hackergadgets install to see if any of your items would correct the failed settings and when I run “sudo apt –install-recommends install hackergadgets-uconsole-aio-board -y” I get the response back of “Unable to locate package hackergadgets-uconsole-aio-board” along with trying “sudo apt install meshtastic-mui -y” it shows the same “Unable to locate package meshtastic-mui”.
I’ve tried fresh installs with just your bookworm image and your install of the AIO board instructions and installing meshtastic-mui doesnt have any issues with the screen, but meshtastic still does not function.
I guess my first question is how could I re-enable my screen or should I once again start fresh?
where did you get the image from. if it’s my image then it should have my repo already there. Unable to locate package hackergadgets-uconsole-aio-board sounds like you’re running the stock clockwork distro. i’d reflash debian 13 trixie from here and try again.
Hi!
Apologies if this has been covered here before already, but im kind of in a rush and i hope my co-nerds here can help me save some time
Basically, everything is working perfect, and i get great GPS on the PyGPSclient.
But.. Im planning to visit a piece of land to potentially buy in only a day, maybe two, and i just tested it and it does not work with Google Maps in the built-in browser of the Bookworm Image.
So 2 questions:
First, How to get it to work with other apps?
And second, does someone maybe know an app where i can just quickly press a button and tag GPS coordinates, instead of the more mouse oriented Google Maps interface?
Again, sorry, normally i would search and google more up front, but in this case i also have some other things to prepare
pygpsclient is really just to verify the GPS works, if you want other programs to be able to use the GPS you need to set up something like gpsd so the GPS can be used by multiple programs at once
but the firefox gpsd support might be broken or disabled by default
Hi, Thanks!
But it does not seem to work. I installed gpsd, and initially it shows working, but after some test commands it shows not working anymore.
Also not getting any info in gpsmon or cgps -s
Probably im missing something somewhere. Is it the permissions?
edit: P.s. i learned the hard way that just changing permissions without knowing what im doing on Linux can properly mess things up. So a bit hesitant. Been well over a decade since i used it semi-regularly
