Has anyone thought about making a USB 3 ribbon cable to an expansion module to utilize stock 4G module but also use the CM5 USB 3 ribbon cable ?
I would like to retain the 4G module, but also utilize the CM5 USB 3 lane for additional dongles / modules / etc.
Has anyone created such a thing ?
Thank you

I’m also considering buying the Ethernet USB expansion board but only attaching the USB 3 ribbon cable and mounting it above the stock 4g expansion module.
I would then route 5v power from the NVMe expansion board to power the module. Then I would possibly tap into the 4th unpopulated USB 2.0 pads on the uConsole main board (if they exist) to utilize the USB 2.0 type C connector on the Ethernet expansion board. (Unless that type C connector is already USB 3)
Thoughts ?
Doing it the other way around is probably easier, the 4g module needs 2 usb data lines and some control pins afaik
But I’m not sure if you can split the usb2.0 and 3.0 lines into separate connections without issues
and the usb 2 lines of the expansion board still go via the pcie connector not the ribbon cable afaik

Thank you. I read somewhere there is a 4th USB 2.0 lane (pads) on the main board. But I could be wrong
there are 2 usb connections on the pcie connector, the 4g uses one of them

Thank you. I’ve seen someone mod the standard USB A port on the side. They spliced in a USB hub chip between the main board and that USB A side port. I wonder if that would be an added benefit, even if added to that 2nd USB lane on the expansion board you mentioned.
