I think it can be done if I can get a terminal only version of PiOS running on the cm4 model.
I am having trouble with compiling the kernel, and I don’t know how to use the kernal even when I compile it.

this might be helpful for getting a truly minimal install on the cm4
alternatively, there is a manjaro-minimal installer. but at this point in time you’d have to at least fix the display kernel module, possibly other things too.
