Before I start taking the uConsole apart and soldering random things into it, I wanted to ask if anyone here knows about projects related to MMDVM integration on the uConsole.
I’ve been using MMDVM for years, and recently I started thinking how perfect the uConsole would be for something like this. It already has almost everything needed: Linux, battery power, networking, keyboard, portability, and now even SDR support through boards like the AIO modules.
My idea was basically a portable SDR/HAM handheld capable of running things like SDR++, DSD-FME, WPSD or MMDVMHost in the same device, using the SDR side for monitoring/decoding while a dedicated MMDVM modem handles stable hotspot operation for DMR, YSF, NXDN, P25, D-STAR, and similar modes.
I know standalone hotspots already exist, but I’m curious if anyone has already built expansion boards, internal integrations, or even experimental cyberdeck-style projects around this idea.
Would love to see anything related before I reinvent the wheel
