I have a new shiney picocalc - assembled and ready - but nada. Witht he batteries in and on usbc power, theres an orange charging light, but pushing the power button wont boot - all i get is 1 sec of green light on the pico board itself (visible through the back case). no screen flickers or front led changes- just nothing.
Does anyone have some fault find ideas to see if its the build, screen, board or idiot behind the keyboard?
make sure the pico is well seated and correctly placed (not shifted by 1 pin off), try the bootloader (remove battery, hold BOOTSEL, which is labeled RESET through the back of the case, and plug a microusb onto a computer, a drive should show up) and if that works then flash it with a new UF2 (you could use the UF2 loader: Release V2.1 - Bugfixes, improvements · pelrun/uf2loader · GitHub )
oh, and also make sure your batteries are good and charged?
One way to tell if the screen is the problem, is to blindly type in after power up, PLAY TONE 1000,1000,5000 then press Enter. If the volume is not fully off, you’ll hear a 5 second beep. This only tests if the screen is bad, everything else has to work to successfully pull this off!
