Apparently it is possible to run Linux on the RISC-V cores of the Pico 2 (or even better with the Pimoroni Pico Plus 2). Has anyone experience with this?
I will try to get it running with a Pimoroni Pico Plus 2 once I receive my PicoCalc.

The Luckfox Lyra is also an option for running Linux (and it would have more processing power, and likely better performance).
Someone is also working with a Milk-V Duo, which could be a choice for Linux as well.
I didn’t dig too deep but it’s unclear if this variant from Sparkfun has the standard Pico pinout. So it may not just plug into the PicoCalc, even though it uses the same processor as the Pico. Also unclear if it’s possible to adapt the work done at the github link (to run Linux on this) to any other Pico variant board.
