I’m studying the hardware, reading the source code of the kernel drivers and participating on the discord. I’ve seen users saying they are using up to 3 A charge current without any issues.
The uConsole schematics say it uses a AXP228 power management IC, and its data sheet says it supports a maximum charging current of 2.2 A.
Ichrg
Charge Current
1200 mA typical
2200 mA maximum
Searching this forum also turns up people using currents over 2.2 A.
First impressions after a day of heavy use
The Linux kernel driver even warns that battery may be damaged if maximum charging current is exceeded.
Is it safe to operate the device with these parameters?
I am sure the IC has protection even you ASK 3A it will not provide it it will just supply what ever it could as max value
I’m not sure… People said they were able to charge at ~15 W. That wouldn’t be possible if the circuit was limiting the charging current to 2.2 V, right?
You mean 2.2 A I am sure it is but if you can show me your 15 W refrence I would love to see it. I can get some accurate values from My lab this weekend with a controlled source but I would be impressed if it pulls more than 2.2A and anyway you ahve conversion losses etc.
I’ve also emailed clockwork about it and this was their reply:
The recommended charging adapter is 5V/2A.
Also yeah I meant 2.2 A. I probably need to go to sleep
