Hey there - I just recently built my GameShell and I’ve been wondering if the OS version it came with (0.5) is the most used one, and if I should develop my software against that version of clockwork OS
I might also be getting on your nerves for a few other topics, especially cross-compilation, but for now I’d just like to know if I can just cruise along on stock settings or if I should reflash it with whatever image the majority of the community uses.
I also just got my GameShell, so my answer is not experienced. But I’d start with the given image, especially to test everything and try out the emulators, advantages and disadvantages. And if you find anything to improve you can search for something special.
That’s my approach.
And for me the GameShell OS isn’t as important as for the uConsole for example.
I hope this helps.
most used one
I would always find the best solution for your needs.
Honestly my needs are as a low end machine to test any games I’m developing, so I’ll probably stick with the stock OS
And since I wanna try out tic-80 for that, I won’t have too much trouble with my binaries not running on other OSes.
Btw, if a tic-80 game refuses to run with the provided version on the stock OS, you can get a newer one as a retroarch core (and download said core directly inside retroarch), which is pretty cool
Anyways, thanks! Guess it’s not that important after all^^
(I probably won’t mess with the OS then, unless I manage to screw up my current install)
I also develop games but I’ll try at first how the games are working and looking on the GameShell. Especially games made with js libraries like p5.js and games made with Godot (where a tutorial exists).
I’m curious about it. But to create a new card with another image is my next step.
I wish you fun and cool games.
You can write me a message if you want to talk about the games on the device. I’d be happy!
We first test the compilation/export for the GameShell by private message to find the solutions. Then post our process and games more as a tutorial and game examples.
Or we do all the chatting in public (not sorted but maybe others add their opinion and experience).
Both have their pros and cons.
What do you prefer?
