New to programming

Okay so can anyone tell me how line continuation works? I know to type it into the options, but then when I put the space amd underscore like im supposed to at the end of the line, it doesnt continue that line it just starts a new one? I also do have the version needed for line continuation. Just wondering what im doing wrong since im incredibly new to all of this stuff

You need to enable the option “OPTION CONTINUATION LINES ON”

I don’t bother with it. I simply press enter when it gets too long, continue typing the rest of the line then use backspace at the start of the second line to piece the two halves together… Same when editing a long line, press enter at the right side of what’s displayed and its split in two. Causes issues with highlighting sections and the new editor F10 functions though, yet most of my lines aren’t too long.

If you have CONTINUATION LINES ON, then type the first 37 characters, then type a space and underscore, press enter to type the rest of the line on the next screen line. The editor will treat both screen lines as one line even though the highlighting may be incorrect for the second screen line.

Update: The highlighting is now correct on all continued lines with version 6.02.01b2 and, I assume later versions will be OK as well.
