The not booting off SD with the CM5 is a known issue, did you apply the bootloader fix that’s in the OP?
Thanks for your response. It was working with bookworm without the patch, since I bought my device. I was also able to use it with Parrot OS for few times until this issue occurred.
Now that I’m unable to boot at all, let me see if I can update it using chroot and retry.
Did you make sure the CM is seated correctly. Sometimes when you take the back off the thermal puddy will pull the CM out a bit.
That’s a great point. It did indeed come off the board when I tried to remove the back to pull the battery. I did reseat it and confirmed it is tightly seated now.
I sat down and read through about a third of it… Just don’t waste your money, even if you can get it for basically free on Kindle, it’s just not good. There are some extremely basic Linux and Debian things it presents, might be useful for someone that knows nothing about Linux. It also lists a few of the security tools, but not really in depth on any after 4 chapters. More of a use nmap to scan the network, use wireshark to capture network traffic. No real details on how or why, or interpret the WHAT of the data you might collect.
Thankfully I only spent about $4.
@Rex - Quick update on my issue. It appears that when I did an eeprom update using raspi-config, it messed up the bootloader firmware. I tried reflashing the bootloader using RPi imager bootloader option, and then reinstalled Parrot OS, which resolved the issue. Thank you for your help on this issue!
Im running into the same issue. Could you please share what you did to persist the Wifi configs?
Does the charging indicator work with Parrot OS? When I plug in the charger, the top LED stays Green, and doesn’t change to Orange. It did work with bookworm though.
the charge led is currently not working.
Thank you @Rex! Appreciate the update
I’m running into a strange issue where the screensaver just shows a blank screen, though I’ve selected a different image.
Idle time is set to 1 min, and screen off and other DPMS configurations kick in only after the 10th minute.
mate-screensaver-command --activate also results in a blank screen. Everything else works fine.
Appreciate any input!
In my testing on the uConsole and in the dev kit I couldn’t get the screen blanking timeout to change. It was always 10 mins, there must be a config somewhere I was missing. I don’t ever mess with screensavers though so I can’t help there sorry.
No worries Rex!
It was disabled for me initially as well. But, once I unchecked and rechecked the checkbox below, it let me change to 1 minute.
Thank you for the quick response!
1st april?

no worries mate!
