Parrot OS 6.12.y for the uConsole and DevTerm

me again, an update from raspberry pi made the system unbootable, i’m trying to get which packages to remove to avoid such things from happening in the future

Let me know what package when you track it down

@Rex it’s

It’s me again…
Having issues getting the RPI imager to flash the Parrot OS.
You said it’s self expanding.
So, I flashed it straight from the MEGA 16gb download. Whole file. Copied and pasted into RPI imager and flashed my SD. Inserted into uconsole and got a whole heap of nothin. Tried a few times and still nothing. Re-flashed again, still nothing… re-formatted and did it again. Nothin on uconsole. Tried 7-zip to unzip the whole file and flash that way. Imager won’t open the unzipped file. Any advice?

16GB? The largest parrot image is 3.5GB. I’d delete what you have redownload the image. Do not decompress the image. Just flash the *.xz with rpi imager without any custom setting like user or wifi. The try and boot with it.

I’ll tell you what… I’m a real idiot…
facepalm
I tried downloading your whole folder… bookworm, Kali, parrot, all of em. I wasn’t paying attention.
I got the parrot security in and it seems to be rolling fine with the way I had it…

How do you do updates?
Again, super new here…
Can I self update, if so, how do I?
Can I run any other browsers besides Firefox?
Any issues with installing IDLE, other things like that on uconsole?

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade will update the already installed packages. You can install any compatible software you want. You can also use any browser you want.

Hi guys! I installed Parrot OS Security and I can’t find some pre-installed tools, like AnonSurf. Was it cut from the distribution? Thnx!

Hi everyone,
Can anyone confirm if this image has been updated to accomodate CM5 16GB no memory and the Hacker Gadgets AIO board ? Does the package @Rex made HackerGadgets AIO work with Parrot OS ?

I currently have Bookworm in my uConsole and last I tried with Parrot OS it just failed in 100 different ways:

  • overheating
  • not starting up after the first config
  • meshtastic not working in any way/shape or form

Thanks a bunch !

ParrotOS does work with the CM5. I have not tested my package on it though. Have you done the EEPROM changes? If not that might help the not starting up. The overheating might be parrot not letting the CPU throttle down or the fact it’s just a heavy distro.

UPDATE IN OP!

Hey Rex. I have been trying to set the locale and keyboard on the Parrot build and cannot seem to get it to take. I saw another thread about this issue but it didn’t have a resolution. Do you have any idea why the GB locale seems to be hard set in Parrot Security? I am running the latest build from the 11th of this month. Thanks!

Edit: To clarify, I am trying to fix an issue where the backslash key is typing a hashtag on the uConsole.

Other thread: Keyboard mapping help some keys type wrong characters - #21 by LifelongApprentice

Did you try and set it in raspi-config?

Indeed. I get the same Keyboard setting loop as noted in the other thread.

I noticed the hashtag types a currency symbol. So may be some criss crossed keys on the uConsole. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

One more bit of info. This is a CM5. I also had this issue on the previous Parrot build you put out.

Hey Rex! I was able to sort out the locale and keyboard. I updated the other thread I linked. The keys are working correctly with these changes. Thanks for all you do!

I am wondering the same thing. AnonSurf and a bunch of other stuff are missing. Why?

I didn’t remove anything from the image as it comes from parrot. Maybe those tool aren’t available in the arm images?

Would it be possible to upgrade to Parrot-OS version 7.0?

Is it in release yet? I thought I saw preview status on 7. I’d wait for release.
