PicoCalc game play

I am assuming I have to flash Picocalc_NES to play games on my PicoCalc. Where would I find games such as tetris.nes or Pac_1cmd.nes? Where is the best place to store them? Any additional facts or tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you try google? Such as best nes games or similar?

I search for free homebrews, either on itch.io or some forums. However I seem to have an issue where some games don’t play, they either take forever to load or boot to a grey screen. don’t know if its a issue with the games or picocalc itself.

Only runs .nes below 45k, if it is bigger fails or blank screen, try Google nes roms, there are many homebrews and put them on the root of the SD card, only .nes not .zip nor .rar nor .zns nor nothing fancy.

Dropping the .nes files on the SD card’s root worked for me, as long as they stayed under that 45kB mark and weren’t zipped. For tiny homebrew titles, I sometimes tweak or clean up sprites on my own, and I’ve leaned on game art outsourcing before to polish the look so the games read better on the PicoCalc’s tiny screen.

There is a much better PicoCalc NES emulator capable of running basically any game. It does not show up in search engines, but so far it’s handled anything I’ve thrown at it remarkably well. The description is entirely in Japanese, but from what I’ve been able to decipher it’s an Infones port, which is a “proper” NES emulator for the Pico.
