I know someone has got it runing via linux but wonder what performance hit that incurs.

I spent half a day on setting up the buildroot , a whole day on developing lcd and kbd drivers and another whole day on fixing some bugs. Now it runs linux on picocalc. Image for test: If you use the version with spi nand, please erase the spi nand.
