Screen replacements?

Welp, it finally happened. I don’t know if it was a mix of my obliviousness or just poor design. Where do I get a screen replacement asap, is there a us version I can buy so I don’t have to wait months?

Just email Alex ─ I don’t remember the exact prices for the screen and shipping, but from what I remember they are quite reasonable, and it will be faster than ordering a new PicoCalc as when ordering a new PicoCalc you are buying a place in line rather than just a new screen to be shipped over.

Not trying to rub it in, but I’m curious… did you tape your screen down when assembling? I haven’t yet tried swapping modules since I put my replacement screen in, but I taped it in place. Eventually I figured I would open it back up and swap modules. But if screen damage is possible even doing that, then… I might not open it up again and just buy another PicoCalc at some point to use for the Lyra.

I hope your replacement doesn’t take too long to arrive. I saw your post on the other thread. I wouldn’t expect it to take much less than about 3 weeks, but mine was ordered, shipped, and arrived at the end of April (technically May 1st arrival), so things could have changed drastically since then with the state of the world, etc. :frowning:

What tape did you use to tape it down? My PicoCalc won’t be here for ages, but want to make sure I tape it correctly when it does eventually arrive!

I used electrical tape.

I didn’t use any, I’ve never had a problem with the ribbon cable. I think it lost its alignment when I swapped out the pico. Nora emailed me back, I sent her the requested pictures and we’ll hopefully hear back within the next 24hours.

Electrical (pvc) tape… Never moved since.

I am also using the two centre bolts too (from rear case).

I foolishly didn’t take a picture of mine after I applied it, but I ended up using kapton tape, sized and in the same places as DigitalDreams’ picture above. I didn’t have any decent electrical tape, so I used what I had, and figured the thinness of the kapton tape might not be a bad thing too, in case there was not much clearance between the screen and main board.

It was some I bought from Aliexpress a while back (when it was even cheaper than this screenshot I just took), and 25mm width, 0.05mm thickness.
