Some initial findings on the PicoCalc

I want a place to share some initial findings that aren’t well documented (or at all) as we start using this device.

First is with the default install and included Pico, the USB-C port is where the serial connection is. I initially thought it was on the Pico Micro-USB port but that’s incorrect.

115200 8-N-1 seems to be working well.

Good tip! It should save between power as well

Could you share how you got this to connect like this (via USB C serial, in your first screenshot post)? It would be lovely to debug/write code using my actual keyboard this way lol

  1. Power the PicoCalc on.
  2. Connect a USB-C cable from the PicoCalc to your PC.
  3. Your PC now has a new serial port.
  4. Open your favorite term program and connect to the new serial port.

The PicoCalc also support “XMODEM RECEIVE” so you can write code in your favorite text editor and upload it to the PicoCalc.

I got mine yesterday. It is a sweet piece of gear. Now to learn MMbasic.
I ordered a Uconsole 5 months ago and still waiting so I get to use this first. Wanted to try the Matrix rain program to learn by seeing how the code is wrote.
If you could share you code I would be very grateful.
