I received my second uConsole (Silver/NoCore/NoLTE) a few weeks ago but only got around to setting it up last weekend. I noticed the trackball quality is different from my first one that I got earlier this yeaer (Black/CM4/LTE).
Essentially, the trackball on the new uConsole appears to be much worse then the older one. It’s smoother, which makes it harder to use for fine controls, and the ball itself appears to be squishier.
Can other new owners confirm?
I found a post on the DevTerm forum about people replacing the trackballs from AliExpress–are they the same part number between the DevTerm and uConsole?
I have received two uConsoles I ordered 3 months apart on same day - one with CM4 and one without. I built the first one with CM4, and the trackball was really hard to move vertically. Then I ordered CM4 module and built the second console, and the trackball was great.
Ended up ordering 10 of the trackballs from Alliexpress (someone posted a link to them) and tried 4 of them, one by one, and they all behaved little differently, but all had issues. The 5th one I installed is great… I don’t know if it’s the trackballs themselves, or tiny differences in how they contact the board, but I’m not touching it! They both work great now…
