Any chance we could get kernel 6.12.90? Currently the kernel is at 6.12.87and that version has security issues. Also any chance kernel updates could be automatically pushed to the github repo?
I installed the āliteā version on the eMMC of my CM5. Is it possible to install the GUI onto this version? Sure, I could dismantle the uConsole again, pull the CM5 off and flash it again, but doing it from the commandline might be less hassle.
Thanks ![]()
you can install a window manager, itās not a problem
but all these hotkeys configuration like volume⦠i would say better flash a new image
Oh yeah, I didnāt think about that. Thanks for the advice. Iāll pull out the CM5 and install the full version.
I found the official first run wizard repo! This is what you were looking for!
Has anybody gone crazy and tried a multi boot setup yet ?
GitHub - procount/pinn: An enhanced Operating System installer for the Raspberry Pi Ā· GitHub - for example?
I admit it would require a sizeable SDxc card or an NVME solution.
adding the firmware/overlays automatically might be complicated but surely a multiboot already set up and then the clockwork pi bits copied in/installed on each of the boot partitions for each os might stand a chance of working?
since you need a custom kernel to get the display to work, no nobody has really tried this yet
I looked at that project before. Wouldnāt be that hard either, you just need to add the driver for the uConsole to the tiny kernel itās running and remake the CVS pointing to the images point to only one that work with the uConsole. The part that turned me off was needing to get hosting for the images that can be direct downloaded.
Is there some relationship between usb current limit option in raspi-config and battery charge lamp when uconsole turned off? When I turn on usb current limit, charge light works even when machine is turned off. But when I turned off usb current limit, charge lamp does not work when machine is turned off.
I donāt think so. On my system, the LED sometimes lights up and sometimes doesnāt. Iāve never changed the USB current limit setting.
Rex, I just put a new build together and I cant seem to get it to boot with trixie on the CM5.
Stupid question, to do this:
āIf you have a CM5 lite and are having problems with the sd card booting. You need to edit your EEPROM and your CM5 lite has to have updated firmware that was released after 2025-01-06. Check using vcgencmd version to update sudo rpi-eeprom-update
sudo rpi-eeprom-config -e To edit the eeprom.ā
Should I just load up bookworm? Im assuming that is the only way to update the eeprom before I get trixie working.
You are going to have to edit the eeprom settings for any distro to work correctly. Find an SD that works or use the hackergadgets adapter board or an io board.
I did throw the HG Rj45 board on it. And after thinking about it, i pulled this CM5 out of another uconsole that I did have trixie running on at one point, so I dont think my eeprom is the issue. I just tried bookworm and that did not boot either. I have power LEDs on the HG board and the HG wireless adapter and the fan on the heatsink is spinning but I get nothing on the screen.
Maybe tomorrow Ill try and dig out a mini hdmi and plug it in to a monitor and see if its just a screen/hardware issue. I went over apl my ribbon cables and everything looks good on that front.
Anywho, thanks for your time as usual, Rex!
